Every year Paris hosts numerous events during the summer and is filled with entertainment, with Lollapalooza moving in on the opportunity recently, it’s clear that there’s a need for music in the beautiful capital of France. However, there is one festival that’s been around for over a decade and has relentlessly provided monumental acts, improved its organization and held on to its values even with the change of times – Rock En Seine. The festival prides itself on its location, the park of Saint-Cloud in Hauts-de-Seine, classed as a national historical monument since 1994 and filled with history since it first came about centuries ago. The organizers take care of every inch of the soil, every ecological/social aspect is covered to respect the foundation and area of the festival, something that’s been continuous as well as cherished by locals since its creation.
With 5 stages able to host over 120,000 people, the festival offers lots of installations, like opening itself up to families with children, hosting a “Mini Rock” foundation filled with activities for kids during the event, a summer camp in association with local music organizations and radio stations to bring more to the Rock en Seine experience. Last but not least, the event also hosts a disc village where record stores bring their finest collection for people to flip through as well as varying talks themed on the history of French Hip-Hop to creative merchandising and so on!
On to the acts, the festival is still yet to announce more artists to join an already beautiful line-up which includes big names such as Thirty Seconds to Mars, Nick Murphy, Justice, Macklemore and Post Malone. Let’s dive deeper and take a look at who will be attending the event, as always, find the Spotify playlist link below to have a listen to all artists (so far) attending!
Known for their hip-hop/cloud rap, two French-Arab brothers from a south suburb in Paris known as PNL bring their emphatic beats and vibes to a home crowd. Their 2016 release Dans la légende has sold in the hundreds-of thousands and has taken the country by storm with their low-tempo, heavy-autotuned and sing-speak rap. Their message, style and cryptic identity has resonated with the youth, infecting not only France but also Belgium and Switzerland, it’s bound to get heated for this one!
The man who continuously keeps progressing as a singer-songwriter, known by some as Chet Faker and through his most recent work, Nick Murphy, will be featuring at this year’s event. Having seen him live last summer, his atmospheric electronic music and multi-instrumentalism transports listeners with tracks “Your Time”, “Stop Me (Stop You)” and “Fear Less” examples of this. His last release “Medication” came about last year so we will hopefully witness some new tracks for this summer’s performance.
Blending together electro-pop and disco-soul, Australian band Parcels has been rising on the scene these past couple years after signing to French label Kitsuné, their soft vocals, infectious guitars, synths and rhythm has seen their sound being praised by many. With tracks like “Overnight”, “Older” and “Gamesofluck”, the band has already collaborated with artists such as Nile Rodgers, Pharell Williams, Kanye West as well as Daft Punk who’ve produce the first track mentioned.
Lush melodies, smooth and indie-R&B melodies with influences from Mac Demarco to Ray Charles, Yellow Days has grown on the UK scene these past years following his 2016 debut album Harmless Melodies and last year’s release Is Everything Okay in Your World? It’s led him to tour across the US, UK and Europe, with his creativity as well as interaction through his music speaking numbers to the youth of today, it will be brilliant to catch him in Paris doing his thing.
Where to even start with US alternative rock giants Thirsty Seconds to Mars? With their new record America, the California bands keeps hammering new records, copies sold, arenas filled and with tracks like “Love Is Madness”, “Dangerous Night” and “Walk On Water”, we’re pretty sure the stage will be filled with people to witness their performance.

It was announced in February this year that a new album would be released at some point but nothing has come out as of now, hopefully we’ll catch them intelligent rappers performing brand new tracks, their history as well as experience will be cherished for this event.
Formed in Texas back in 2008, Cigarettes After Sex bring their dream/ambient pop sound to the festival following their fantastic self-titled debut album in 2017 which came after many singles/EPs, YouTube videos watched millions of times and varying members. With tracks “Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You Baby”, “K”, “Sunsetz” and “Apocalypse”, the group has honestly come out with beautiful songs all the time and are worthy of their name as well as the moment it represents.
Leaders of the psychedelic rock movement coming out of Australia, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard formed in 2010 in Melbourne, will bring their energetic live performances and trippy vibes to the festival. Having released staggering 5 albums last year, all with their own set of instruments, inspirations and sound, these guys are incredibly talented as well as creative, always surprising their fans. Their twelfth studio album Polygondwanaland was given freely for anyone to press, listen, make copies and share in their own way as if the band didn’t own the record. These guys are amazing, this is one I’m very excited for and I know they won’t disappoint!
French/electro house pioneers Justice are bringing their fusion of funky house, rock and dance pop to a home crowd who will warmly welcome them. With their 2016 release Woman which includes great tunes such as “Safe and Sound”, “Fire” and “Stop”, we’ll be able to enjoy classics like “D.A.N.C.E”, “Civilization” as well as “Genesis”. Having toured the world, filled arenas and led the way for people to dance their heart out, it’s fair to say they will be a highlight of the event.
Since parting ways with Ryan Lewis in 2017 following a fruitful last couple years which involved great albums such as break-out The Heist, Macklemore will feature last year’s successful solo-release Gemini, which is his first personal work in 12 years. He is an idol and progressive advocate in the US, standing up for the rights he believes in and the hip-hop artist shows no signs of slowing, with tracks “Glorious”, “Marmalade” and “Good Old Days”, it will be a festive performance filled with positive energy as well as love.
Having just released his new album Beerbongs & Bentleys, hip-hop and R&B star Post Malone has been breaking charts since the release of his debut single “White Iverson” and he’s showing no signs of slowing down. “Rockstar”, “Psycho”,” Paranoid” and “Better Now”, his new record sees Post discover some new sounds and re-create the landscape between trap and rock, a fusion which has made him a pioneer in the way he presents his work. It’s gonna be great to have him at the festival, people will surely go crazy for this one and I will too.
